A quick nap and I'll try my best to defend the TVPs chances against a possible tourney winner. We won't surrender without a good fight, and we've got some strong assets too. We know where Syd Barrett lives.
Damn I'm late already, it's a 1-4 situation... Bad draw no doubt, but hey! Give Dan Treacy a chance...
Television Personalities is above all the band of Dan Treacy. Their first album was released in 1981 on Rough Trade, it's a mix of post-punk DIY and lightly psychedelic 60s-tinged pop. Their music has a very distinctive childlike charm, of which you can never really say if it is ironic or downright naïve. They're lovely. They could have been bigger than The Beatles.
Gorgeous Television Personalities albums include Mummy Your Not Watching Me, And Don't the Kids Just Love It, They Could Have Been Bigger than the Beatles and the must-have compilation Yes, Darling, But Is It Art?. Please, listen then vote. Frankly, are you not tired of the gloomy, too-serious-to-be-serious Swans?

In a perfect, uncruel world, this would have been a worldwide hit. But hey, the world is cruel. Now, you can somewhat repair the general unfairness by listening to "Happy Families", then vote TVPS!
Talking of post-punk, and as you have surely realized, the A-side to this wondrous hit is a song called "Where's Bill Grundy Now?". Good question, and a great song too. Somehow had to pay the old swine a delicate homage.
Swans music can be both beautiful and soul crushing. It may be a daunting task to listen to a full Swans album, but you'll come out a different person on the other end. Their music is this giant mountain, that feels like it's crushing and constricting you, and just fucking with your sanity. I love it.
