maybe the most important ranking, or at least the most credible.
this ranking was made with a contribution of more than 100 artists, critics and industry insiders (The Hives, Vampire Weekend, Coldplay, Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Flaming Lips, Kings of Leon, Metallica, ZZ Top, The Decemberists, The Strokes, Linkin Park, Wilco, Beastie Boys, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott...etc).
hers's the top 20:
1 | Radiohead: Kid A

2 | The Strokes: Is This It

3 | Wilco: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4 | Jay-Z: The Blueprint
5 | The White Stripes: Elephant
6 | Arcade Fire: Funeral
7 | Eminem: The Marshal Mathers LP
8 | Bob Dylan: Modern Times
9 | M.I.A.: Kala
10 | Kanye West: The College Dropout
11 | Bob Dylan: Love and Theft
12 | LCD Soundsystem: Sound of Silver
13 | U2: All That You Can't Leave Behind
14 | Jay-Z: The Black Album
15 | Bruce Springsteen: The Rising
16 | OutKast: Stankonia
17 | Beck: Sea Change
18 | MGMT: Oracular Spectacular
19 | Amy Winehouse: Back to Black
20 | The White Stripes: White Blood Cells

I thought Rolling Stones list was going to be the worst one, but in all honesty it isn't they did a lot better than Entertainment Weekly for example. But that being said it is still pretty bad between having the typical albums and awful albums. Currently a few of my favorite best of the 00s lists have been Pitchfork's, The A.V. Club's, and Stereogum's.

Two Bob Dylan albums...what a surprise Rolling Stones.
I'd agree with about 50% of that list. _________________ And I stare at the sun.

I think it's funny that Rolling Stone put Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head on their top 500 list but it didn't make top 20 here... finally came to their senses. It is a pretty generic top 20 though; and I don't think Bob Dylan should be up there, especially with two albums...

I think it's funny that you think RS put it there. Nothing personal.
btw. if you liked the smts intro, you should check out the All apologies intro. More relevant today than it was than, "We love you Courtney!".
Cheerio.

It's Rolling Stone. Of course it's bad. Nice to see The Woods on there, though.
