I just spent a godawful amount of time methodically compiling on a notebook my top 100 70s, 80 80s, 80 60s, top 100 90s and 2000s albums and then extending the existing top 50 for those decades. This was a bitch! But I am off today and didn't have anything better to do and I got to drink a lot of coffee, scour my record collection and the BEA top 1000 of each of those decades, and listen to music, so I had great nerdy fun!

I also updated my top 100 a little!

Added another 2013 album to overall chart. Yep, obsessed with that new VW - sitting pretty at #74

And I added 3 albums to the database in making these upgrades (Homosapien by Pete Shelley, Mo' Roots by Taj Mahal, A Mississippi John Hurt live album)

Phew!

So please come on over and browse around and take your time. An employee will be on hand to assist you with any recommendations you may want or want to give and to answer any questions you may have.

As always,
Ryan,
Mercurydylan89,
...Signing off!

ooohh have you heard the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir yet? They're a very rootsy blues band. If you haven't heard of them yet check out their albums Ten Thousand and Fighting And Onions if you can find them.

Wow! Thanks for the rec! I've never heard it. But I will, fo' sho'

Is there any point in an album being in the database unless it's on a chart?

It actually helps the site to be recognized more and it's good for the popularity of it. I've discovered recently that when you google some obscure albums, results from this site are sometimes in the first page. It wasn't like that a year ago.

Great in the sense that it's funny how accurate it is!

Also, just made a grunge chart:

The Screaming Trees are great! Unique sound to each of their tracks, use of unconventional instrumentation (at least, unconventional for rock / grunge), etc. Very Happy

That, and it also aids users in experiencing different types of music that they've never heard before. Obviously the best known, recognized as the "Best Ever Albums", can be found on any arbitrary music site. I don't think this site is only for seeing what's considered the most influential and most enjoyable albums, per the collective ranking of this site's users. It's for discovery, too.

I don't see anything wrong with expanding the database, as long as there's some legitimacy to adding certain albums.

Certainly! Love Screaming Trees. Actually, i first heard them through a video game I used to play all the time (guitar here 5 I think) and their song "Nearly lost you" was on it, and I loved it, so i decided to check out their stuff, and it was quite amazing for the genre of grunge (I'm not too hot on grunge. A lot of the bands/albums irk me at best, but I certainly see some appeal).

Just un-alphabetized my chart. pretty happy with it actually. Don't think it is ordered as well as it could be, just refreshing is all. xD

I believe that Albummaster will say (he's said it before) that the purpose of this site is not to have every album ever made on it. It's called Best Ever Albums, not Every Album Ever Made.
