I think there is. Being able to see all the albums by an artist, not just people's favorites, is helpful for discovering more potentially interesting music, and may lead to becoming favorites by other people. If "everyone" agrees that a certain album is the second best, it may not appear on anyone's charts but can still be worth appearing, rating, and discussing. There is an aspect of "out of sight, out of mind" on this site that is a bit unfortunate; I'd like to see what people think of a whole catalog even if something is not yet anyone's favorite.
Cheers,
Corey

Just a different branch of jazz. Just like bop or jazz fusion (which is really just funky sounding jazz). It's jazz that's a bit less structured and tends to use instruments as voices slightly more than just musical elements. It's more leaning towards the avant-garde than modal, and although it's still far from free jazz sometimes it uses elements of it. Spiritual jazz usually has more ambient elements and longer breaks than bop or modal. Musicians often key in on octaves that are a little higher and a little bit lower than you're used to hearing from the instruments. It also has elements of instruments and progressions associated with international religious music, hence 'spiritual'. It's a bit tricky to define, and all in all it's just a subgenre, but I figured there might be a small appeal to having a chart focused on it.
That's about all the justice I'll be able to do defining it. More so than anything, I'm just hoping people find some decent recs from the chart.

Do you think it has anything to do with spirituals?
I think Sun Ra, JCOA, and others are some odd choices for something spiritual. Honestly always been confused by the term
