Atheism is better than organised religion though, imo.

It definitely seems like a complicated issue to me, but yeah on a whole I definitely have to agree that atheism>organized religion, simply because atheism hasn't ever systematically oppressed people (esp. certain groups) the way that organized religion has. honestly, it hasn't really oppressed anyone. certain adherents are just... tacky, i suppose. which is probably more of an issue in the US, as you said.

I'm an atheist, but I really hate radical atheists. I don't see why it bothers some people so much that other people are religious. Like my pastor said back when I went to church there is no 100% evidence on the side of Christians or Atheists, both take a leap of faith. As long as someone isn't pushy about their religion it doesn't bother me.

Agree with the sentiment, though the "leap of faith" claim is a pet peeve of mine. I can't say with 100% certainty that I'm sitting at my computer typing this message, but I don't find it necessary to say it takes a leap of faith to believe it.

I've always been an avid reader, and so therefore have gotten through the Bible, Book of Mormon, Bhagavad Gita, and Quran so far. My religious and philosophical reasonings from all of those have settled at a rather comfortable blend of Jehovah's Witnesses and Dudeism, if that makes any sense. In particular the ideas of no Hell, clergy being unpaid for any of their services, and religion keeping well clear of politics, even if the political ideals are going against your religious feelings (i.e. don't rally with signs that say "Thank God For Dead Soldiers" or "God Hates F**s").

Anytime those zealots gets on TV trying to use their ideas to sway politics I always want to show them a certain verse... "What business do I have judging those outside?" That ought to be carved into every church doorway.

Holly

P.S. And just so that y'all are well aware of this, I will never be a cheerleader for those who think that certain people should be killed or constantly ridiculed for being the way that they are. In my opinion, people with that frame of mind only dig a hole for themselves where the Lord is concerned. To me, if you can't get along with someone that you strongly disagree with, the best thing to do is to just wash your hands of them completely which is what I've had to do with people in my own family.

What do you mean? Agnostic isn't a middle point of "I kinda believe but not really", it's the affirmation that it's an unanswerable question.
