Albums have been discussed; abuse has been flung; and 2009 is drawing to a close. So I am opening this thread in preparation for my list of 2000s songs. Whittling it down to 200 I like (out of almost 9000). I will be one song per artist otherwise there would be Muse, Radiohead and Elbow-galore!

But while you wait, any views on the definitive 2000s songs?

Powder Blue is a worthy number 1. One of the best songs off their debut .

Athlete's Airport Disco getting a mention is great too. That band tend to get ignored a lot and when they are not people are normally praising 'Wires'. Most of the songs on Beyond The Neighborhood beat Wires. That said, Black Swan was a disappointment Sad

The Keane selection confused me though. Why pick the interlude when there are at least 10 brilliant songs on the album to pick over it?

I thought it was a weird one to put in but this interlude of 2:58 is my reflection of a love for some soundtrack/score music. This interlude could easily be used in any film but also how the track builds over the time is something that struck me. When I first played the cd, this track hit me. Atlantic was probably a close second.
