Biggest boner kill in music history. Tricks you into thinking it's going to be an amazing album with the first 10 songs, then makes you wonder with "Night Flight", then makes you think "Night Flight" was just an anomaly with "The Wanton Song", and then proves you wrong by shitting on you with the last 3 tracks. I shake my head at you, Led Zeppelin.

Great album and they managed to spell Bron-Yr-Aur correctly on this one. Laughing
I prefer the live version of In My Time of Dying though.

I really don't get this. Well, personally, I disagree about the last songs being bad, but even if we granted that they were, if an album still has you thinking it's amazing after ten tracks, sounds good to me. I wouldn't let a few weak closing tracks make you think it's not an amazing album.

Anyway, I love the album. Last few tracks included. Night Flight was actually one of the first Zeppelin songs I fell in love with. Also, The Rover is the most underrated Zeppelin song. Easily in my top 5 Zeppelin songs.

Very good album that suffers from the 70s double album syndrome of it'd be twice as good if it were half as long. If they cut it off after the first 10 tracks it'd be a classic on par with the first 4 albums. Instead it started to show they were running out of ideas and began the drop in the quality of their album output.

This. I'm not sure it'd be in my top 5 of theirs, but it's really great nonetheless.

I judge albums based on the full experience, and if an album ends with a solid streak of 3 shitty tracks (shitty in my opinion, of course) then I don't really have any desire to sit down and listen through the whole thing. I still love the good songs, and listen to them on occasion, but I'll never put it in and listen all the way through, because if I do then I know I'll just be disappointed after "The Wanton Song" when all the good stuff is over. For that reason I choose not to include it in my chart.

And I never said it wasn't a good album. If we're talking average song quality, it's pretty good. I just think it's kind of a boner kill.

I see. Makes sense.
