Post subject: Is Stairway To Heaven the greatest piece of music recorded?
It stirs images in some which can move worlds. It does more than most hit singles in the time it is on. It's... like a metaphor for how life will end and how not to spend it. People invest too much in earthly pleasures and don't see what comes beyond it. Some how it makes sense to the greater world at large. One of the best things which Led Zepplin did and a good song to boot. What do you think?
It's good, but it's not even the best song on LZIV. That said, it's all down to personal preference isn't it.
Like, to me, this is the best piece of music ever recorded (Minutemen's History Lesson - Part II, for those who don't wanna click the link), yet I doubt many others would agree with me on that. _________________
Its also the ending song to every Junior high dance every held. The shear awkwardness that ensued in the last 6 minutes of that song makes it - OBJECTIVELY - lose any shred of credibility that it once had.
boom.
lock this thread, no other meaningful conversation can be held. Thanks in advance _________________ Alt Right meme game on point
I FEEL DISCRIMINATED AGAINST AS A PERSON OF JUDGEMENT.
I listen to so many songs and feel that way. Stairway to Heaven is pretty lovely, I don't understand how so many people here dislike it. I think Only Skin by Joanna Newsom or Machine Gun by Slowdive are two of the greatest pieces of music ever recorded.
Choosing the best song ever... now there's a hornet's nest. It may be the best standalone rock song ever recorded, but I wouldn't be so bold as to say the greatest piece of music ever recorded.
No, not even close. It's boring and the first 5 or so minutes really grates on me. Bad song. I find it very difficult to imagine this track being considered the greatest rock song ever, let alone the "greatest piece of music recorded" for sure (and attempting to find such a piece is a futile search IMO, but that's a discussion for another time).
I'm not a Zeppelin fan by any means but even I will acknowledge they were responsible for a small handful of solid tunes, of which this is not one of them...They could do so much better.
