Odd thought: People should be allowed to be deemed the Champion for a specific band or artist. I bring this up because of how frequently threads are started that are named "I just don't get ____" or something. Wouldn't it be easier if there were one go-to person for various bands instead?

Let's use my personal example. I'd heard of The Flaming Lips, and using BEA, picked a song and listened to it. I wasn't overly impressed, but then one user popped up and explained what the appeal was for him, and based on the songs/albums/bands I liked, he helped me find a better introduction to the band.

And normally I'd just PM someone who had said band or album on their chart, but not everyone is able to eloquently express why they like something. Maybe they just plain like it.

With this system, someone could volunteer to champion an artist, and help people become introduced to them.

Maybe not necessary, but it was a thought and I wanted to share it to see what the community's opinion of it is.

I want to champion Nickelback, as they're pretty hard to get into.

Yeah I like this, don't know how hard it would be to be implemented though. I know many times people have pm'd me about Animal Collective or Phil Elvrum stuff, just because they always see me talking about it.

It really is.

Just not sure who I could 'champion'. Think

Edit: People are making cases that are making me rethink, maybe it has potential, but in a different sort of form (I'm not making sense...)

Someone who you can elaborate on easily.

It'd be Talking Heads or Laura Marling for me, despite liking Pink Floyd and Arcade Fire better.

I'd probably have The Black Angels, BRMC and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Yeah I would assume you'd have an extensive knowledge on their discography, and the ability to write about their music with ease.

I'd have Animal Collective and Microphones/Mount Eerie, and maybe Neutral Milk Hotel and a couple more im forgetting.

I'd say Metallica, but honestly I don't know shit or really care to know shit about anything they did post-Black Album.

I guess maybe Led Zeppelin? They definitely are my favorite band, but I just think there are so many Led Zeppelin fans, that it would be difficult for me to claim to be the champion of them.
