British music never sounded this great. This album is ultimately euphoric splendor with riveting melodies filled with elegant and fragile sequences while also managing to be hard hitting and also being very complex with it's themes and tones. Guy Garvey has a magnificent voice with a listenable attire but has enough raw emotion to make it transcend into new places of wonder. With such qualities like that, no wonder it's in my top 50 of all time and this should be higher on the overall charts.

I prefer Build a Rocket Boys! just a little more, but this is gold. "Grounds for Divorce" is a modern classic.

Track picks
2. The Bones of You
4. Grounds for Divorce
6. Weather to Fly
11. Friend of Ours

This is a very personal album for me. I've always loved the rich autumn feel to it, but the quirky macabre tone that just sets it back as an uplifting album. I don't like it being labeled as a pop album, because I think it's a whole lot more than that. One Day Like This was never meant to be a cheesy BBC anthem, nor Grounds for Divorce - but they lead to Elbow becoming as big as they are now. It's become something I'm ashamed of, and I've been feeling more and more distant from it recently. I think this album can be enjoyed as something much more ambitious after hearing their first few LPs.

I can never shake how valuable the ending of 'Friends of Ours' has been to me though.

I accidentally bought this album when I wasn't really into music (Thought Elbow were someone else, can't remember who though...) . Anyway, worked out well, it's a great album and it's lead me to buy other albums of theirs and even go see them live.

Picking a favourite track is hard, An Audience With The Pope is up there, as are the The Fix and The Bones Of You, and of course Grounds For Divorce can't be overlooked, too hard for me to call. It's a great album.

Brilliant album and one of the first albums I posted about on this site.

Mirrorball was used at my wedding. Beautiful arrangement of an amazing song.

All tracks are great but at the moment, The Fix is my go-to track.

My fourth favourite album of all time. Every moment is beauty and every track is absolutely essential to its poignancy.
