Well, NME is coming out with their new chart. 500-300 and the top 25 have been released. What do people think so far?

Top 25:

1. The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead

2. The Beatles – Revolver

3. David Bowie – Hunky Dory

4. The Strokes – Is This It

5. The Velvet Underground & Nico – The Velvet Underground

6. Pulp – Different Class

7. The Stone Roses – The Stone Roses

8. Pixies – Doolittle

9. The Beatles – The Beatles (White Album)

10. Oasis – Definitely Maybe

11. Nirvana – Nevermind

12. Patti Smith – Horses

13. Arcade Fire – Funeral

14. David Bowie – Low

15. PJ Harvey – Let England Shake

16. Joy Division – Closer

17. Public Enemy – It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back

18. My Bloody Valentine – Loveless

I feel like it's a very strange list. To call Closer JD's best album, or Parklife Blur's best album, or even to have Revolver as the Beatle's best album is very strange to me. Also any chart with Oasis in the top 10 loses some point in my eyes. And PJ Harvey so high up? I don't know. Thoughts?

Whole list spread around hear:

Well, they touched on stuff like Can and Throbbing Gristle, which Rolling Stone probably never would. I suppose thats nice of them.

But its NME so its just drowning in way more guitar pop stuff than necessary.

Whatever. I have no idea what goes on in the heads of the writers at NME sometimes. I agree with them on occasion, but more often than not, the things they post (especially best of lists) are baffling.

There are some albums I agree with on here, but the order is ridiculous. "The Queen Is Dead" at #1? PJ Harvey that high? The Strokes that high? I mean, I love The Strokes, but "Is This It" at #4 is high.

Dumb list. By that I mean I dislike it. The Smiths are so damn praised it annoys me.

And no Dylan in the top 25? But Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, PJ Harvey and THREE BOWIE?!?

I love Bowie as much as the next guy, but yea three Bowie albums in the top 25 is just plain wrong.

This. Any chart with 3 of any band that aren't the Beatles in the top 25 I usually have issues with.

First I have seen the last hundred albums, 400-500. It was just so wrong, Destiny's Child, Nancy Sinatra and so on. It was nice to see Can or Ride there but when almost all the other albums are mainstream pop albums then it's just wrong.

And there was 'AM' by Artctic Monkeys, really a good album, but for god's shake, this was relased like six weeks ago, how could it be in the Top 500 albums EVER? Rolling Eyes

The Top 100 is overall a little better, but not much. The Top 10 is really strange...

But I don't have a problem with Closer, Revolver and Parklife as the best albums by JD, Beatles and Blur.
