I like it a lot. Some days I even prefer it to Odelay. They're really impossible to compare.

The original was better.

Still, two good ballads ("Lost Cause" and "It's All In Your Mind"). Good record.

IMO one of the weaker Beck albums. At times a bit melodramatic (and I say this despite Round the Bend being my favorite song off of the album) and at times a bit too country for its own good. But still a good album.

I feel like that only really heavily applies to "Paper Tiger".

Anyway as for the album, solid, though it does feel kind of overproduced at places, and yeah the Gainsbourg influence can sometimes be a little too blatant. I still prefer the Beck who threw genres into a blender without ever taking himself seriously and still ended up spitting out ramshackle masterpieces. (i.e. Odelay). But Sea Change usually makes for a good listen

Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

Oddly enough, this is the album that introduced me to Beck. I was aware of him before, but this was the first album of his I really listened closely to and it's still a favorite of mine. A classic "if you're really depressed listen to this" album.
