Post subject: What 2013 Song Best Sums Up Your 2013?
Weird to think it's only 30 hours to new years where I live. So I'm curious. If you had to sum up this past year in one song released on an album in 2013, what would it be?
For me, I'm gonna go with Trojans by Atlas Genius from When It Was Now.
(If you want, and if you'd be willing, I'd love to know why y'all picked the song you pick)
This year was largely spent for me on pushing away old things and moving onto new ones. I'd liked the same one girl for two and a half years and it was somewhere around when I first heard this song that I realized enough was enough. 2 half relationships and an overwhelming awkward with her new boyfriend had just made it clear it was time. Easier said than done to move on, of course. And the same sort of moving on had to happen with Aviary. I'd been a member of Aviary for 4 years when it closed. I loved that site. I thought of people there like my family. I was on an airplane when I got the news, an overdramatic subject line in all caps like all the emails from the site. When I opened it and saw the news ... well, to have people giving me odd looks as I cried onto an iPad was a special experience, certainly. That's a lot of why I ended up here. And I love all of you guys like family now too Its a much more active community here, and a lot less spam. I'm really glad I found you all, and I'm glad I found people to take my mind off that one girl. I'm better for both of those things, I really think I am. More mature, more conscientious, and certainly happier. She and I are still friends. Sometimes I talk to an Aviary friend. That part of my life isn't gone. But I got my priorities straight.
Change the locks, change the scene
Change it all but can't change what we've been
Your trojan's in my head
It's ok if it's gone
The thoughts that you had that it was the one
And oh what is left?
For all those times is that what you get?
Alright, BEA. That's me. Sum up your 2013 in a song from 2013. Just has to be on an album from 2013, yeah, I know Trojans was before this year, but its on a 2013 album and that's how we're playing this. I look forward to any responses this gets _________________

Guys, we can't ever let BEA go out of hand for the sake of ben's wellbeing.

Haha, I think it's helped all of us in one way or another. There's better reasons to save BEA
And the main worry I had about Aviary was not finding anyone else. I went through a period where I didn't talk to just about anyone but the people on there. My real life was pretty less than great so I turned to the internet. My life's not perfect now, but it's a lot better. _________________

Aww. It's 3:30am and I'm still awake because I've just been on BEA for the past few hours.
That says a lot really, doesn't it.
and the marble moon sifts jets of sluice
from treetops down candle wax roots
while rain towers drown the morning song
a magpie with a mottled tongue
and they only ever treat you well
when you're nothing but a church bell
and they only ever think you're good
when you're walking like you're made of wood
it's another friday afternoon
you shuck the shell, peel the cocoon
but it ain't friday on the moon
like it ain't Kenya at the zoo
and they only ever treat you well
when you're walking on an eggshell
and they only ever treat you kind
when you're talking like you'll change your mind
creation's all just a hit and run
limping to the beat of your own going numb
a fog curling tight around a weathercock fight
and an end to see you in hindsight.
Pretty much my favourite song and the lyrics are obscure enough to compliment me.

Never listened to the lyrics on that before, the song's a lot better than I thought.
