So without a directing or editing nom there is no way Her will win. I'm glad it got nominated for Picture though.

So it's definitely between American Hustle (which they loved) and 12 Years A Slave for the picture win.

Gravity has no screenplay nomination so it's out.

Nebraska
Philomena
Blue Jasmine
The Great Beauty (Italy)
The Hunt (Denmark)
Ernest & Celestine

All I'll say is that the cinematography in Nebraska has better be perfect when I watch it this weekend for Her not to get a nomination in that one.

I'll look at the full list of nominees when I have more time, but my initial impressions:

1) I love Jennifer Lawrence as much as the next guy, but she had like 20 minutes of screen time in American Hustle. Oh well, she still did a great job and I suppose it's nice to see a talented young actress being recognized.

2) Nice to see Bradley Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, and Amy Adams all nominated. It's also nice to see Christian Bale nominated but I mean obv.

3) Disappointed that Frozen wasn't nominated for Best Picture. One thing that's turned me off the Oscars for years now is its consistent failure to give any recognition to comedies or animated films. Oh well, it's virtually guaranteed to win Best Animated Feature, so that's nice.

4) Not a single nomination for Mud? That's disappointing.

5) I really need to see Dallas Buyers Club already.

6) It would appear Martin Scorsese could take a shit in a box and still be nominated for Best Picture and Best Director.

That's all for now.
