- Post subject: BEAM #2: Nominations Closed. VOTING OPEN.
|
Okay...okay. I hear you. I am not a malevolent snail. As a friend reminded me in the other thread "what's the rush", we can take the time to see what nominations we can come up with.
So everybody gets 2 nominations each and later on we'll vote on them but for now just pick 2 albums that you'd like BEA to cover (whether you're considering contributing or not). We'll see if this works. It can be any album you like.
(Oh and could a mod delete the other 2 "BEAM #2" threads? cheers.

AND REMEMBER:
We're not picking albums we like the most, we're picking the albums that lend themselves to re-interpretation and would best showcase people's talents.

I recognize that the albums ought to be something "BEA-Friendly" - something that people would know and actively want to do. As a result, I'm going to have a requirement that it be a top 500 album on the site - while this knocks off albums I think could work and that many know (ie Hopes and Fears, Speaking In Tongues, Whatever and Ever Amen, A Day At the Races, etc) I think that this is important for whatever reason.
Nevermind by Nirvana. Before you knock this one, it's worth listening to some of the covers this has spawned. This doesn't just allow for people to make some easy grunge music - many interpretations are possible here, and a wide variety of incredible music could come out of this, I think.
My other pick is less well known but I think more indicative of the eclectic style featured here on the site. So ...
Skylarking by XTC. It is top 500 on the site, though it doesn't get near enough attention as it should. An album which is very detailed and has many underlying complexities while at the same time not sounding terribly difficult. It's also an album which I've never seen covered in whole, giving us something unique. _________________

I vote for The Moon & Antarctica and Illinois. But Public Strain would also be amazing if anyone doesn't know what to vote for.
