Although it spans 19 tracks, "Home Counties" doesn't feel soporific due to the consistent high quality of all the tracks on the record; which is to be expected since Saint Etienne's previous albums have all been consistently great. Although this one may not be as great as "Words and Music" and "Turnpike House", there are plenty of pretty synthpop melodies and hooks throughout. It sort of plays as a culmination of all their previous work and is definitely worth checking out.

I love Saint Etienne, but all the same I found this a bit underwhelming and slightly too long.
