One of my favorite album. My metal cd box is so old and rusty that i can't open it anymore... so i'm listening to Second Edition ;-)

I've been into weird post-punky side of rock for more than a decade but I finally got this album's vibe just a couple of days ago. As unbelievably amazing as Flowers of Romance is, this one is even better. A milestone album, really. On the same level of unique innovation and inventiveness as TMR or WL/WH. And play damn good all along.

There are some fantastic moments on here- "Memories" approaches Kid A paranoia, "Poptones" features atmospheric guitar tones a la 90s rock, and "Chant" anticipates the industrial rock Killing Joke would break through with in the following year. On the whole an excellent precedent for an album along the lines of "Daydream Nation"

But, as with much experimental rock, there are still many misjudged moments- "Albatross" is too long and lacks creativity (it was recorded in one take- and sounds like it!), while many of the second half instrumentals drag on.

The best Public Image album by far. A dark, brooding atmospheric masterpiece. The first half of the record is perfect, the latter half a little less consistent but taken as a whole it's a tour de force. Poptones, memories, and, careering, all excellent. Good stuff.

If all of the albums on the Rolling Stones Top 500 list, this has got to be one of my least favorites. It doesn't resonate with me at all. A total struggle for me to get through the whole thing.

I've never been a huge fan of experimental music. Sure, I like music that takes chances and sounds different, but music that is trying to push boundaries bores me because often it seems like it's trying to be unenjoyable. This is different though, it completely changes punk but still manages to be catchy and listenable. I could never get anything from Tago Mago or Suicide stuck in my head, but I'll be humming Albatross all day after hearing this.
