I often tell people that Tame Impala is the closest thing we have to a modern Pink Floyd. While that may be true, with this album especially, it doesn't really do justice to just how unique Tame Impala is as a band. They've got some clear influences from classic psychedelic and progressive bands (Beatles, Pink Floyd, Yes, etc.) but this is a band that is constantly evolving their sound. There is no other band out there today that sounds like Tame Impala.

With Lonerism, Tame Impala created the perfect modern psychedelic album. It could have existed back in the 60s and 70s, its got that sound, but the subjects of the songs and the even the instrumentation fits so perfectly in the 2010s. This is an album I see people recognizing years from now as being a defining sound of this time period.

Favorite song is Apocalypse Dreams. Also love, Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, Mind Mischief, and Elephant

I think this album is great and it's probably one of my favorites from the era, but I don't think it deserves to be ranked in the top 100.

This is an amazing album. So consistent it feels like every song is great. Perfect album to cruise with the windows down to.

This was one of the first albums I discovered for myself when I first got into music, and its been a while since I revisited it. But damn! I forgot how excellent it is. Every song is excellent and fresh. The highlights for me are the first and last tracks, but Feels Like We Go Backwards is quite amazing too.

90/100 + a ❤ for nostalgia's sake

Unlike much of the rest of the neo-psych rock craze of the past 5-10 years or so, Lonerism (despite its spacious and addictive production) values substance over style, and Kevin manages to have a meticulous attention to detail without sacrificing the raw energy of the psychedelic era he is paying homage to.

Between the awesome drum fills, infectious bass lines, gnarly fuzz-guitar, and rolling synths, this is a densely layered album. Coupled with the grainy lo-fi mix, you'd think that this would rob the album of its clarity, but it does not. Just listen to "Apocalypse Dreams". Every idea is as developed as you could hope for.

The only weakness I could think of is the fact that, surprisingly, the record starts and ends on its two weakest tracks.

Favorite Tracks: Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control, Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, Apocalypse Dreams, Keep On Lying, Elephant
