I guess telling someone this album=high school for me is a bad idea (someone disliked my comment stating such).

Possibly the best pop/geek rock ever written (most of the album). But then the kickass track of hashpipe too. Great come back of a band greatly part of my identity growing up.

Just great catchy pop/rock songs
Not a weak track
Underrated to say the least

One word for this album: boring. No character, nothing special, nothing done particularly well. Feels especially awkward within their discography, wedged between two great albums (Pinkerton and Maladroit). Island in the Sun, Smile, and Photograph are good songs on their own, and as a whole the album winds up being a decent listen, albeit a flaccid one.

After the personal and vulnerable Pinkerton, Cuomo intentionally releases a short generically written album in an effort to put a gap between himself and the listeners.

Hash Pipe and Island in the Sun are great and were singles. The instruments are done well here but Cuomo has nothing to say and the album lacks a personality---which is jarring considering their first 2 albums oozed with it.

Can't help but listen and feel like it's a bit phoned in.

Overall a solid album. Felt like a very angry album with some beauty mixed in (Island in the Sun, O Girlfriend, Glorious Day). Not bad overall.

Uneven. The first 6 tracks are great, but the final 4 are forgettable (but still not bad).

This is much more standard rock compared to the first two albums, this results in a drop in form, but still very good in its own right
