Arguably Kanye's best album right behind Dark Twisted Fantasy. Not only was the album incredibly influential for the next generation of artists, but its incredibly heart and humanity make it an emotional listen every single time. Kanye bears his soul on this project.

Kanye invented a sound here that still goes on to shape hip-hop/r&b today.

When auto tune started being used as a voice effect rather then a tool to make shitty singers sound slightly better

"I'm just not there in the streets..." heartbreaking and innovative record where Kanye dared to dabble in electropop and fully embrace autotune. It alienated a lot of people, especially his hip-hop fanbase, but stands tall in retrospect as one of the most influential records in the past decade.

Some good stuff here. Influential as it is, that doesn't make it a great album. Other projects took the sound and made it better. The second half of the album is really not good.

Groundbreaking album that shaped hip hop' autotune phase for years to come. Love Lockdown is in my top 3 Kanye track of all time.

Jeez. When I first listened to this album a while back, I could have sworn it was quite literally one of the worst albums I had ever heard. I'm not sure what I listened to, because this is quite an interesting album. (I know that of course it was just my opinion changing, but rarely is it this fast or pronounced).

I love auto tune so much man, it's my generation's new thing, I was even born in 1997 around the time auto tune was invented. There is something about the quasi-humanly sound that gives me asmr tingles like woah. You can really hear that the real human voice is still there somewhere, but everything that makes it humanly - namely the mistakes - are polished away: A perfect analogy for a confused and depressed soul which swapped its emotions for megalomania with a touch of despair. That’s why the core of this album is “Amazing” and “Love Lockdown”: The first shows that blatant megalomania and the second shows where it originates from: repressed emotions and fear of a meaningless life.

Furthermore, it’s just a perfect album to sing along to. I can just put it up and sing along for the next 45 minutes, until my throat hurts and beyond that.

Oh yeah, and it’s the most important piece of art of the 21st century yet, but that goes without saying.

The album starts and finishes really good, but the body is mostly unrealized.
