Puppets is a similar leap in innovation and quality as RTL was from Kill 'Em All. This cemented the band as my all-time favourite. This made me attempt to play all the songs on guitar. This is why I had 'Battery' played at my wedding. This is probably metal's finest hour. This is, in my opinion, one of the best albums ever made.

From Kurtco
I'm not the biggest fan of metal or Metallica, but I recognize that this album is an extraordinary classic "Master of Puppets" extends the work done on "Ride the Lighting"; he sublimates it.
The sound is found, the style too. This mixture of ultra-compressed saturation, thick, sticky riffs, gives the album an epic dimension. "Master of Puppets" is the best album of Metallica and the master of the genre. The group takes off, emancipating itself gently from Thrash.

Really is their magnum opus in my opinion, not very varied, but masterful nonetheless. A collection of tracks that all just go hard, I'm still not entirely convinced how it's supposed to be seen from the perspective of an entire album experience. Live performances of these tracks in their day are simply 10/10.

Not quite as varied as Ride the Lightning, but loaded with masterful thrash. This is the standard bearer for the entire genre.

Full of grip and intensity, the first trash metal album that I heard, and to this day one of the few that I still like in a way.

They kind of downgraded their music with this album. While Ride the Lightning had very interesting guitar riffs with respect to rhythm, on this album they seem to go back to the droning guitar riffs that we know from Kill Em All. Except for the song “Master of Puppets”, which is also the best song on the album, and surprisingly catchy for thrash metal.

Pinnacle of thrash metal, in my opinion. Really hard to top this.
