Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 83.1/100, a mean average of 81.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.6.

Not for me thanks.
Teens Of Denial is passionate album about not knowing what the hell to do in your college years. Will Toledo comes off as a clever song writer with his digs at his self and the situations around him. The songs can switch into different styles and really sell the feelings. There album has some flaws like tracks that go on too long and Toledo's limited vocal range. The main problem however is a lot of this album sounds like a collage of other artists. One minute you are listening to pixies then its pavement but never really Car Seat headrest. I do like this album but I feel like it needs to grown into it's own.
Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales
Fill In The Blank
The Ballad Of The Costa Concordia
(Joe Gets Kicked Out Of School For Using) Drugs With Friends (But Says This Isn't A Problem)
Recently re-listened to this album and it reminded me what a land mark release it is
The tracks "Vincent" and "The Ballad of Costa ..." aren't purely 2 of the best tracks in 2016 , they rank as 2 of the best tracks in the 2010's
Teens of Denial is the album that semented CSH as one of the most those promising bands we all love to search in every corner of the internet.
I remember first listening to this last year and I had my brains blown out, I didn't think stuff like this could exist nowadays, 10+ minutes rock tracks? Where we are? The seventies?
Jokes aside, CSH brought back that sentiment that has been with rock music since it's birth, and that's a worthy achievement, and I do love them, despite the Strokes feel they carry.
Teens of Denial has some great tracks, that really stunned me, like Drunk Drivers and Drugs with friends, but overall is not that cohesive of an album, and is no way near as good as per say a "Blonde" or a "A Moon Shaped Pool", It has too many slip ups, It is a bit dragged out and the tracks that aren't so great, they, well, aren't so great.
got the recalled version on vinyl but couldn't bring myself to open the precious. so I bought another one so that I could have my sealed recalled copy and listen to it too. but I can't bring myself to open this one either.... ??????
I was a little hasty with my previous review. Not only is there not a single bad song on here but it's one of the most honest albums I've ever heard. Will does nothing but speak the truth throughout. Every song rocks. I'm not sure who is playing the guitar but I don't know how they pack so much emotion into it, it's amazing. In a year filled with incredible albums, this is still one of the best.
A near perfect album that might be one of the most vivid and descriptive depiction of the lifestyle that a lot of young adults have. Not only are the instrumentals captivating and unpredictable, the vocals also stand out as unique and are a perfect tool for the brilliant stories on here. The concepts on here are so rich and layered, the album is an unforgettable experience when listened to all the way through. The hooks on here are all some of the best of the genre, and the album has a consistent charisma and personality to it that never goes away. The only track that I have an issue with is Unforgiving Girl. But every other song is perfect. Why was that track on here? I have no idea. The instrumental is great but the song as a whole doesn't fulfill what I expect from a Car Seat Headrest song lyrically, especially on this album. But yeah, don't miss out on this album. Every song hits hard, and I can pretty much compliment every aspect of this album and each of it's tracks. The instrumentation, lyrics, stories, production, song structure, and vocals. It's all there.
Not a single bad song on here. Great from beginning to end. Nothing really groundbreaking just flawless execution throughout.
