Arcade Fire ratings
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.

m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 1% of artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a mean average rating of 84.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 85.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 18.2.

one of the worst groups ever, next to modest mouse and vampire weekend...
Very weak music. I do not like it.
I see a lot of people complaining about Arcade Fire being in the top 10 artists in music history. I can’t think of any other website saying the same. But on this site, artists are ranked in function of their albums. Maybe the Rolling Stones are way more famous and acclaimed in history of music than a canadian indie rock band who emerged in the 2000s. Maybe The Who has given more impressive shows. Maybe U2 has sold more records. But Arcade Fire have made 3 timeless masterpieces great from the beginning to the end and that gets better with every listen. If you disagree with my point, why Funeral would be the 9th best album on this site and why The Suburbs would be the top album of the 2010s ? Why so much people have decided to include Arcade Fire in their charts ? If you still disagree, you can reassure yourself seeing that Arcade Fire isn’t 7th in the top rated section, not even in the top 25.
Look at the top ten artists of all time on this site. Spot the cuckoo in the nest.
Great band with a great discography. I've seen them live and they keep put on an amazing show too. I'm a big fan. BUT 7th greatest band of all time? I don't think so.
I’m very curious to see what direction Arcade Fire takes their next album after the misstep most would consider Everything Now. Honestly can’t wait.
Ironically, the most pretentious thing I see here are the three comments below.
