Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 1% of artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a mean average rating of 88.0/100. The trimmed mean (excluding outliers) is 90.2/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 15.0.

I'm not sure why people criticize his singing, I for one really like his voice which has a unique vibrant personality. He's a fantastic songwriter and everything, but his harmonica features are quite irritating most of the time. Personally, I'd enjoy Bob Dylan's music a lot more with the harmonica editted out. Sometimes it's just plain screeching noise! On the end of Queen Jane Approximately for example, am I crazy for thinking that it's just not good?

Dylan is a brilliant lyricist/songwriter. Some of the greatest songs ever written were penned by this genius. And unlike some, I actually like his nasally vocals.

I'm always dumbfounded to hear Dylan is not a great singer. To these ears, he's one of the very best ever. No, I'm not kidding. Do check him out at various points of his career. I'm partial to his sweet crooner's voice circa 1969-71, but the red hot volcano of the mid-1970's or the come-back-from-the-dead supple croak of the last 20 years also work for me.

OK, Dylan can't sing. So what? His songwriting is at the highest level, and his musicianship is stellar. Belongs among the great poets of our, or any, generation.

He's a mediocre singer. However, he is truly one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th Century. Many of his songs (and albums for that matter) have stood the test of time, and remain relevant even today.
