Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 6% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 78.3/100, a mean average of 76.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.0/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 15.5.

A band that released some excellent catchy UK alt rock. Their music is what I'd term 'easily nostalgic' in that returning to their music brings fond reminiscences. This has much to do with the well produced atmospherics that permeate the album that, for me, recall long solo drives through the English countryside. The Last Broadcast is not too far off being a classic album and I'm surprised it's not ranked comfortably as their best. They also crank it out live with a crowd-pleasing bouncing set and a fairly big sound.
Do I need to include Coldplay in my comment?
Doves is an ambitious band that knows their limits, often pushing themselves exactly the right distance. Loved these guys for years. I'm glad they're getting some time on the radio (albeit not much).
I don't hear Coldplay at all when I listen to Doves. I think both bands draw some influence from Radiohead, but they're completely different beasts.
I like this band, but don't really like Coldplay...
Not sure about the ordering of albums here, but this a really good band who have continued to improve. The last 2 albums are exceptional.
It's a good job i like Coldplay then, thought i could be in trouble...
I agree. Doves are like what you would get if you put Coldplay and Porcupine Tree in a blender.
