Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 73.9/100, a mean average of 70.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.7/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 19.6.

Not nearly as good as Sabbath with Dio (or with Ozzy for that matter), but there were some brilliant moments. No More Tears, Mr. Crowley and Diary Of A Madman are three of my absolute favourites from his solo career.

Ozzy is a great singer and artist. Black Sabbath is The Godfather of metal and obviously he was a huge part of that. That being said I really enjoy his solo material as well. He found 2 great guitarists in Rhoads and Wylde and kept his sound fresh and contemporary while continuing to lead the genre.

The first two solo albums were truly great. The next 3 or 4 had their moments but weren't as consistent. After Ozzmosis, the albums really declined. There are a lot of hard rock bands I would rather listen to but I respect his influence. Was a much bigger fan of Ozzy as a teenager than an adult. Just my two cents.

Some truly great work with Sabbath and early in his solo career and the middle of his career.

I'm not enamoured with Black Sabbath, but I see their influence, and appreciate their early work. Sadly, Ozzy became a caricature after he left. There were moments (Blizzard of Oz and I kinda like Ozzmosis), but for the most part, it was easily ignorable cartoon-metal. I wonder what early 70s Black Sabbath would think of Ozzy now.

Ozzy's best work was with Randy Rhoads, but the stuff with Jake E. Lee and Zakk Wylde was also extremely powerful stuff. Getting kicked out of Black Sabbath has been one of my favorite events in heavy metal history. Ozzy put out the immortal Blizzard of Ozz (my favorite all-time album) and Black Sabbath wrote the masterpiece, Heaven and Hell with Ronnie James Dio.

Ozzy's first few offerings were the stuff of which legends are made. BLIZZARD OF OZZ, DIARY OF A MADMAN, BARK AT THE MOON, THE ULTIMATE SIN and the live SPEAK OF THE DEVIL are some of the most listenable albums I own. He's had a few albums that were less than stellar...but, I really haven't heard a poor Ozzy album. SCREAM (his latest as of this writing) features some of the strongest material he's done in years. He's the godfather of metal...he's known by a single name...and agreeing to do his reality show was his only moment of poor judgment. Judge him only by his music.

As a kid I thought Ozzy ruled and in many ways he did. Unfortunately, Ozzy, due to age and health problems, declined as a live act by the mid 90's and his more recent albums have been average at best. Don't get me wrong Ozzy is a legend and his vocals have appeared on some of the greatest metal albums ever. Had I done this ranking in 1985, it would have been much higher. Still Ozzy can be entertaining at times.
