Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 6% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 78.4/100, a mean average of 79.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 16.6.

Stevie Ray was the ultimate fusion of traditional electric blues and hard rock, and he brought it with great fire. His incomparable guitar skills sometimes overshadowed that he was also a competent vocalist as well. The musical world was a richer place because of him.
For those who analyse guitar playing, there's isn't much better than SRV. For those who don't, he's still top-notch blues-rock.
One of the best guitar player ever, he might be considered the heir of Hendrix, and is true. But Stevie Ray Vaughan has his own personality as an artist and songwriting, he is different from all the others. The one and only. Great rock and blues tunes!
On of the great thing to have come out of the 80s musically. SRV's guitar playing and songwriting was refreshing yet amazing. I saw him in concert only once, two days following the death of his father at an outdoors extravaganza with many headliner acts... Everybody expected him to cancel but he got flown in via helicopter at the last minute and had already flown away before the applause had receded. Unfortunately his dedication was his undoing as he died in a helicopter crash. Sorely missed.
It seems he was getting better with time and his last album was his best. He was taken way too soon.
