Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Pretty good indi orientated top 50. Hard to argue with many of the choices. Nice to see Rainy Day Music by the Jayhawks get some richly deserved kudos.

I am shocked that Illinois and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot take the Number 1 and 2 spots respectively as I would've put them at those positions too. I kinda feel like I'm plagiarising ;_;
I And Love And You and Arular in the top 10! This is a complete joke and I am not laughing at it!
