Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.5/100, a mean average of 91.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.6.

I thought for a chart named the Smiths there would be more Smiths, haha.
I liked it for the most part though, while I realize I'm in the minority I don't like Dylan or Bowie at all. I do love all the Neil Young's so high, After the Gold Rush is my personal favorite. Really anything of his is good except his irregular 80's albums and his more recent efforts. I love seeing all the Led Zeppelin so high too, my personal favorite is Houses of the Holy, actually I'm listening to the first Zeppelin album as I type this!

Great chart, though perhaps a little safe; Floyd, Bowie, and Neil Young take up nearly a quarter of the list (not to mention 1-18 of BEA's best of the decade all appear here as well).

Would be nice to see some more of your underground favourites coming through, maybe that would come with the inclusion of some different nationalities? There was stuff going on in the 70s outside of the US/UK/Canada bubble you know!

Still - lots of fantastic records here, that much is true...

I have no problem with 10 Bowie albums, or 32 by 4 artists, etc., if they are deserving. This is an exceptional chart.

This is really exciting cuz I never saw a chart with seven James Taylor albums before. I have 2 or 3 in my top 100, but SEVEN!!!! Wow. Ha ha. I would probably say only four or five of his albums are great, but still... Awesome. I didn't realize I already rated your chart before, but I raise it up to 100. Lol. It's great.

Its cool that you have Sally Can't Dance and Street Hassle on here. I really don't know why people don't understand that those are two of his best albums. I guess only people of superior intelligence understand that. Ha ha ha.

Pretty fair list although I think 10 David Bowie albums is a bit extreme. I do really love the punk albums and the addition of Sally Can't Dance.

Great chart. Love the inclusion of "An American Prayer" and the two Syd Barrett albums.
