Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Trendall
Updated! Obviously it's impossible to come up with a top 100 list. I don't know on what basis I'm even ranking them on, and it would probably change by the hour anyway. I have no idea how anybody does it.
I'm not saying that any of these albums are good necessarily, they are just my personal favourite. And any odd placements are more to do with my discovering them or otherwise listening to them a lot during times in my life where I was more emotionally resonant. Which is true of anybody else.
It would be interesting to me to update this list probably once a year to see how it changes.
Everybody look after yourselves and one another!

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.3/100, a mean average of 89.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.4.

Interesting list thats for sure. A good blend of genres.
Haha, yeah, it popped up my Twitter feed and I felt embarrassed like 'aaa oh no people will see that, it is so out of date'. Definitely interested in coming back and revisiting this.
Cool chart. Fun mix of jazz and hip hop. I'll have to check out some of those artists you have multiple albums of like Serengeti and Krantz.
Probably the best i've seen so far in this site. I love to see so many jazz/fusion albums and also milestones of the hip hop genre, beside others ecletic tastes. All my compliments to you.
Very good chart:
Love the jazz picks, love to see a lot unknown artists, love to see some classics.
Well, Hip Hop is not my thing.
In the end: Very good chart.
Many unique choices here!
Good chart. Keith Jarrett on top.
Mm hmm, マクロスMACROSS 82-99's Sailorwave is on my chart and it's just a perfect album indeed
Also still need to listen to some future funk, I don't think I've heard any but I always like the look of the album covers.
I listened to NYC Hell 3:00AM last night as it happens, I've heard it a few times now. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet cause I always find it really difficult to listen through the whole way, but definitely a very interesting album. Same with iAsia as well.
