Top 100 Music Albums of the 1960s by Tamthebam

This was a great decade for music although it was dominated with music from the mid/late sixties with great albums from The Beatles, Stones & Bob Dylan. Many iconic bands were formed during this period and there was a big breakthrough for soul/ RnB albums with the labels Atlantic, Stax and Motown leading the way. I like all types of music no matter who was responsible and I did not include any "Best Of" albums that I included in my year charts.

Another great album which is equal to their classic debut. All the tracks are great but to be hyper critical Some Kinda Love & That's the Story are the weakest tracks but perfection apart from those 2 tracks. [First added to this chart: 10/23/2014]

The best of the Beatles early albums (1962-65) I think its their best album up to Rubber Soul. The title track, And I Love Her, Can't Buy Me Love, Any Time At All & You Can't Do That are all brilliant it is the first time all tracks are written by Lennon/McCartney. 100 per cent pure soul music. A voice to match Aretha has to be up there with the very best vocalists of all time, taken too soon. This is his best album Ole Man Trouble, A Change Is Gonna Come, Respect I've Been Lovin You Too Long etc. & some great musicians a must for all soul fans. [First added to this chart: 09/25/2013]

This the first T.Rex album is full of folksy instruments and weird vicals. John Peel introduced Marc Bolan to an unsuspecting British audience in 1967/8 and Bolan never looked back. His songs changed over the following 10 years but that unique voice remained. Electric warrior is by far the best of the 12 studio albums he made but this is where it all started. Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 4% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.3/100, a mean average of 91.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.2.

Nice chart with good coverage of the decade. I agree that the decade didn't truly kick off with great albums until 1963.
Nice to see Laura Nyro in there (twice)! ~ but surprised to see CSN a lot lower than I think they deserve, given the quality of the album.
I agree with a previous comment that Cream deserve a place in the top 100 of the 60's and we could quibble over artists like Blind Faith, Iron Butterfly, Blood Sweat & Tears.

Sweet 60s chart! 44 albums in common. Good to see the Rod Stewart album or as it was called in the UK An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down. Good diversity of music. I think you have good taste man.

A nice chart, fluid. No Janis Joplin or Cream? Still a good feeling chart as is. Glad u dropped Moby Grape in there.

You seem to be the soul representative of BEA.
There sure is a lack of good soul music on BEA, but I´m not fully satisfied with your chart - a bit too many classics and too many albums of your top4 - no real surprises.
The music`s OK
