Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Boogn1sh Unknown

Not an attempt to list the greatest albums, or most important, or most influential, or in fact be objective in any way, I am not a expert so I'll leave that to them. These are my favorite albums, the one's I've listened to the most and think I will continue listening to...Can't believe I wrote that almost 10 years ago. I'm happy to see this site still exists and is still active. Decided it was time to update the list and see how things have changed over the past decade. Not sure what I'd put on top at this point, the top 10 is pretty much interchangeable. I would probably pick Bob Dylan (a bunch of random stuff from different bootlegs) as my top album, as that's not an option, guess this works. On the Beach has probably brought me the most happiness

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.2/100, a mean average of 83.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 14.1.

Love this list. It's diverse yet it feels truly personal (perhaps because I share the love for so many of these picks).
The Band's self-titled debut is so good.. kudos for putting it your the top ten.

Cool chart! Listened to that Beat Happening album recently, thought it was really awesome actually! Nice seeing the Surfers on a top 100.

I really love this chart.
When I read your bio, usually people who head their chart with "not an attempt to ... be objective in any way" have that as justification for having the same three artists making up the top ten, or for never trying to explore music outside of their limited comfort zone. But with your chart not so at all.
So many picks I adore from a variety of the musical spectrum - if you added some notes to a few of these picks I'd give you a perfect score for sure. Brilliant stuff man!

Only 5 in common, but I like the feel, the diversity and sentiment behind the selection process. Good chart.

This is one of the most interesting charts I have seen. It is also hard to argue with most of the picks. Great to see Third Sister Lovers and Another Green World in the Top ten. Also liked Spacemen 3, Apex Twin and Avalanches in there.
