Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by pinkfreud1981 Unknown

This is a list of my favorite albums. I'm not including classical music or hip hop, the latter because I haven't listened to enough, and the former because I need a list specifically for classical. I tried to do the one album per band thing, but I just couldn't . There are some masterpieces that I can´t leave out even if I have to sacrifice some variety.

54 minutes of energy and emotion. Anti warmongering, sanatoriums, drug addiction. The perfect heavy metal album is called Master of Puppets. The quality of the composition is as good as in Ride the Lighning, but here the impeccable production elevates the album a step above the previous one. One of the albums that made me fall in love with Rock. [First added to this chart: 12/21/2011]

An album that practically created a genre. it is full of beautiful melodies, but it is not this that is most fascinating but the textures, dreamy vocals and a subtle wall of sound, that truly create a dreamlike experience. The masterpiece that practically created dream pop. [First added to this chart: 06/20/2023]

A somber and wonderfully sarcastic album. The quality of the compositions is among the best of British rock in the 80s and Morrisey's provides some of the most original and interesting vocals IMO which give that special touch that puts The Queen is Dead at the top of my preferences. Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 87.1/100, a mean average of 86.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.3.

Fantastic chart and with 33 albums in common I tend to agree with most of the picks. Particularly love seeing 5 albums from Sigur Ros in particular.

gran lista amigo, me fascina ver tu amor por bandas como Yes ó Sigur Rós, pero lo que más me agradó fue ver a Thick a Brick tan alto en la lista, uno de mis discos favoritos de todos los tiempos

You commented on my chart so now I'm looking back to yours to see how much we truly did overlap.

All I can say is I know I'll be using your rankings for a while to find new music, starting with the Thick as a Brick.

Nice, really enjoyed this one... some stuff doesn't fit with my personal taste (like Metallica), but overall is a great chart
