[March 14th, 2023 Update] I don't think I'll ever be satisfied with this chart. Hell, I just updated it and I'm still not happy with it. There's just so many albums on the edge that can teeter in or fall out. I will always be updating. Maybe one day I will do the 1 artist rule, but for right now, the only significant rule is no compilations featuring entire albums. Using RYM genres with some of my own additions. I'll probably end up overhauling this in a few months anyways...
This gets harder and harder with the more time that passes and listens I accumulate.
As always, continuously tweaking.
Any questions?

This album is the closest example I can think of to an audio form of a drug, specifically MDMA. It is soooo addicting and uplifting that its effects pick me up on any day, sunshine or rain, happy or sad. Every time I listen to this album, I get in this extremely specific mood to go to Europe (either London or Berlin), and go to a club where I'm raving my tail off. If you want to know what it's like to be on MDMA without taking the drug, then look no further. From Here We Go Sublime is the perfect dose in audio form.
I've grown to love this whole album in its entirety. Upon my initial listens, the first four tracks were enjoyable to vibe to, but it wasn't until "Everyday" came on where I was *hooked*. It starts with a stuttering beat/audio loop that builds up for its first two minutes. Then, after the come up, it turns into this entrancing, psychedelic, hypnotic rush that makes you want to go belligerent in the best way possible. "Silent", the next track, continues to elevate the mood as its soft, violin like synths (I think they're synths) and bubbly audio loop blooms this album into its own world. The rest of the album rides off this high until the very last track which is the healthiest come down I've ever heard. Now, when I listen to this album, the first four tracks sound vibrant and colorful and they feel like an excellent preparation of the second half of the record.
I've been searching for other microhouse records that can mimic this feeling, but I have yet to find something outside of The Field's discography that comes close. From Here We Go Sublime is a standout in electronic music as a whole. This album is a drug and I can't get enough of it. [First added to this chart: 01/23/2020]
Adulthood sucks. You have bills to pay, a job to attend, relationships to handle, and society to deal with. Sure, you could argue that you have more autonomy and freedoms to do what you want, but the responsibilities and sacrifices that come with it can be a real slap in the face. Nothing will beat the innocence of childhood. No responsibilities, you are free to make mistakes, you can play freely, and your potential feels limitless. This idea of escaping adulthood is the essence of Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished and as I revisit this album throughout the years, the message gets stronger and stronger.
It's not the most welcoming first listen as some of the tracks feature some harsh and sharp noises. The tracks' experimental constructions also may inhibit fully enjoying this album on first listen. It took me *years* to finally "get" this album. I was essentially revisiting it once every few months since 2014-15. One day, I knew I was on the right track because as I was reading the lyrics I felt my emotions simmering inside me. I started to understand what Avey was singing about as I went through college and began medical school. During this slow realizations, I was also branching out to harsher sounding albums that featured more noise as well as some psychedelic albums with heavier experimentation. The combination of my introduction to adulthood and creative sounds eventually came together as this album finally clicked for me. Now, I think this is one of the most important albums I have had the pleasure of listening to. It's a true "1000 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" record.
Sometimes, I get very emotional when I revisit this record. The way Avey sings is so heart wrenching to me because I can hear aching desperation for a return to childhood. I also read how it was a dark and lonely time during the recording of this album as Avey Tare moved to NYC and had only one friend, Geologist, in the city. As I learned that, I just couldn't help sympathize as there certainly were and are moments in life where I felt that lonely and scared. Not to be an open book, but as of writing this note I'm super stressed. Medical school has me pulling my hair out; dating while in medical school sucks; board exams terrify me; family can be stressful; my best friends all live somewhat far from me; the world is seriously shitty (take that phrase to encompass politics and social problems); and my future is so uncertain because I have no idea where in the state, or even country, I will be for residency. So yeah, I would love to go back in time and experience the pure innocence of childhood again. That's why I sympathize with this album so much and I think so highly of it. Oh my god did this album blow my mind when I first heard it. It's 11 tracks and totals at less than 20 minutes of visceral insanity and I loved every moment of it. The guitars sound so razor sharp that I imagine a bunch of swinging knives when I heard them. Also, the screaming is just perfect. It's not the whiny, trying-not-to-cry type of screaming, but the "I'm angry and I'm about to explode," type of screaming and I love it. Lyrically, and like to vocal style, it is less whiny and is more critical of the state of emo and punk culture the band found themselves in. I also like how the lyrics read a bit more like poetry, because the diary-entry style of lyrics normally in emo music can get tiresome. The overall presentation of this album is phenomenal. It's all short and to the point, yet feels complete. [First added to this chart: 06/10/2020]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.3/100, a mean average of 89.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 13.7.

Really nice chart
I could've sworn I'd commented another time this was Chart of the Day, but this is really a wonderful chart. Not all albums or genres I love, but every single album here is masterfully crafted and excels at what the artists sets out to do. I've taken some recs from here in the past, and as you continue to update, I think I'll continue to do so (Technodelic is the only one of the new additions that I haven't heard yet, excited to try that one out). I also appreciate the genre descriptors, that's a huge help in deciding whether it's of interest to me or not
This chart’s breadth of scope and genre is so exciting, featuring classics as well as some more obscure but achingly beautiful records. Thanks!

very fun chart
cool chart man
Great chart!
Bravo! Terrific chart. Love the pretense-free comments and insight. Also a huge fan of the "listen to this on a _______, _______ day" bits.
Really nice chart. I have discovered a lot of gems by going through your list. Extra points for the added descriptions.
Hell yeah great list and great comments on albums.
Great chart! I love the diversity and the fact that it is mostly comprised of albums with that unique quality to them. I'll be sure to check out those which are new for me.
