Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 79.1/100, a mean average of 76.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 12.4.

I can´t stand grandaddies dancing on stage in a school uniform...
but in a cool Chart like this even AC/DC is bearable.

Lots of great music here... but I'm not a fan of the guitar-theatrics (Steve Vai, Joe Satch, etc...)

I have no idea how anything by Steve Vai or The Killers finds inclusion on a greatest albums of all-time list, but other than those frightful blemishes, some good stuff.

yeah I agree with some of your points. Just getting started and a first 50 up. Billy Joel and Aerosmith both struggle, as others will also as I review and refine, especially with more recent top rated music coming on from the likes of The killers, PJ Harvey and Wolfmother to name a couple that I have got into and deserve a showing. As for 1 album per artist goes, its not a rule for me, its just that with so many great artists around and the view that great albums achieve influence, it becomes an extreme ask for a single artist to achieve enough in multiple albums (without one over shadowing the other) to get more than one into the chart when we are limited to 50.

Interesting list. I assume you limited yourself to one album by each artist. You obviously haven't embraced the music of the past decade (or for the most part, the past two decades). It's cool that you march to your own drummer a little (if picking one Waits album - most would probably pick Rain Dogs, and not a lot of people would pick Some Girls over Exile, Sticky Fingers, or Let it Bleed). I can't really give any list that includes Billy Joel anything more than four stars and I think your list is a little light on the 60s, 90s, and 00s - but it has some interesting picks and a lot of great albums. Cheers.

I've seen you left a comment on my list. Four albums in common are "so many"? :D Anyway, your list is pretty good. There are some albums I've yet to enjoy.

"Some Girls' has been on my own top 50, I think that it is an underrated album, I guess, because it had a hit single a lot of stones fans dismiss it..but I don't know really..
