I get some lovely comments every now and then from people who have ended up discovering, listening to and loving a record I've featured, mentioned or name-dropped their way. Well, it's time to repay the kudos. Below is a list of albums discovered thanks to members on this site (naturally in order of preference), along with those amazing souls who put me in touch with it in the first place.
It's been a little dry for updates of late as I've been off on my own musical voyage away from the good ship BEA (plus plug.dj - previously the best source of finding out about some of these - seems to have bitten the dust), but since this chart was conceived and first compiled I've managed to pick up about 80-85 of these to expand the record collection. So thanks all for making my wallet a little lighter over the years, and here's to the next discovery (whenever that may be).... Jimmy, January 2021

Via Meccalecca. An absolute revelation, one that very soon after first listen to this (thanks to Mr. Leather dropping a track from it in Plug many moons ago) turned into an obsession. Absolutely, totally adore this - one of my favourite ever compys, and contains perhaps one of my top 10 all-time tracks in "When The Going Is Smooth And Good". Jonny, you're a ledge. Best thing I've ever found thanks to all my years with BEA, and that's saying something...

Via SingingPeasant96. Whilst checking out rival twee charts on BEA I stumbled upon SP96's list and instantly gravitated to this album, which it turns out was made by a band from the Isle of Wight (which is ironically where I've been today - on the hovercraft, no less - for work). Beautifully shambolic twee pop that sounds like it was recorded on a knackered tape player.

Via Suedeswede. Despite being a bastion of all things twee, this lot completely passed me by until Tom decided to mention them in his ULL. Well done for highlighting what a numpty I am for not paying attention before, especially as they were on Sarah. Maybe I should hang up my anorak...

Via Geevydallas. A huge shout-out to plug's very own funky worm, who if this chart were based on tracks alone would be top of the tree with 'Junior Spesh'. As it is, he'll have to settle for mid-table obscurity with this rather tasty Rough Trade compy of early 80s female minimal post-punk bands. Now give me tissue in case of mess.

Via Pa. As a self-confessed Francophile there's a few records in this list that have come as a direct result of Norm spinning a track or two in Plug/dubtrack. Well, on this occasion it was an Italian with a soul of pure gold to play the wonderful 'Saperlipopette' that piqued my interest enough to make me rush off and download this compy at the earliest opportunity.

Via dividesbyzero. Classic Chicago/Detroit house-flavoured dance anthems made in the last decade. This is by far and away the best house album (sod the fact it's a compy) I've heard since I was a student (clue - an age ago), and even better than Etienne De Crecy's Super Discount. Yes, it's that good - and dropped one night during a plug.DJ dance session that Mec tried to hijack by playing some laid-back shit made by a man with a beard that Kiki was scared of. And as for DAT BASS...

Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
