A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Good selection of top US/UK albums from just about every year from the 70's onwards - but with less than a handful of albums outside the top 10 for any year, it lost something in uniqueness and thus appeal.

I'd already given this chart a rating but seeing as it's chart of the day I thought I'd leave a comment.
Firstly, I can't believe I only rated this an 85!! Sure the albums here are largely brilliant, but it's the notes you've written for your first five picks that really stands out; I love your tone and form, I cannot wait to see some more writing. It's music fans like yourself that make this website worthwhile.
You've rated a lot more stuff than me which suggests that you know your stuff better than I could tell you, but since you've asked for recommendations, here's a few I think you might enjoy that don't already appear on my (admittedly short) overall chart (which incidentally you might enjoy looking through):

An interesting chart. It makes me wonder what your full one would look like. I understand the struggle of trying to organize the hundred greatest albums of all time, but I've found one must just work on it in little chunks. My chart will probably never be "finished"

Nice, strange combinations with modern hip hop and some classics being in the top 20, but good nontheless. Love the Coheed & Cambria choice though! 26 in common, too.
