25+ years later and I can still almost recite this whole album! To say we were all over this is a massive understatement. I haven't felt like that for a hip hop album since then. PE & BDP changed the trajectory of lives. I wouldn't trade growing up with this blasting from my box for anything.

First time I heard this song, I was sitting in a dentist chair in Boston. The dentist offered me nitrous. I'd never had it before. He put the mask on my nose and put headphones on me and a walkman in my hands. This was obviously a very long time ago. I fiddled with the radio dial and hit a rock station. At that moment this song started playing and I started feeling really happy. The station played 3 Pixies songs in a row. I've been a fan ever since. The End.

I knew this would be a classic from the first song. Thank Nas for making me check this out when he said on locomotive from life is good "in the trunk, play the great adventures of slick rick, buggin on how his imagination was so sick". Mad references from modern rap artists that came from this. This shit is dope!!

A stunning album, the Replacements's best IMHO. "I Will Dare", "Androgynous", "Unsatisfied", and "Answering Machine" especially find Paul Westerberg coming into his voice as the best songwriter of the 80s, and the songs balance the band's raw, brash ROCK sound against his sad, plaintive lyrics (okay...maybe not on "Gary's Got A Boner"). The album makes you feel good about feeling bad, wanting more, wanting anything that will break the tedium...or wanting to share it with somebody else.

Back in 2007, I spent three months in a rented storage unit, living off pork 'n' beans, Our Family Lemon-Lime soda, and acid. My only source of entertainment was this album.
