Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by Jhef9312

Reworked, but still a work in progress.

Compilations are ok, only from the pre-LP era, and if they could have reasonably been an LP. Robert Johnson, prime examples.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 84.1/100, a mean average of 83.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 83.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 12.2.

Dylan, Pearl Jam, Joni, what’s not to like? Even had an official PJ bootleg. I’m going to have to check out that live Joni Mitchell album. Nice chart

A lack of 80s or recent stuff, but overall this chart is really solid. Quality albums up and down in a variety of genres. The Art Tatum one is a really cool choice. Lots in common too, seeing Born to Run in the top 10 is a joy.

Well. I'm glad SOMEBODY here knows that Blue isn't Joni Mitchell's only album, or even best. Miles of Aisles n Court and Spark are indeed her best ones. After Summer Lawns, that is. But at least you're not one of these people who just HEARD that something is the best and just follow the crowd. Heh heh

Very nice chart, maybe a little too much American orientated. But good!
