Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 86.9/100, a mean average of 85.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 12.9.

Loads of nice picks from the indie/alternative rock genre!!

That said, looking outside of that bracket proves scarce, as is evident from the massive emphasis on the 21st century. I think you may be missing out on some older picks from the underground that could sit as a counterpart for your more obscure modern picks. Here's a couple you might enjoy that don't sound so dated:

Nico - Chelsea Girl
Steve Reich - Music For 18 Musicians
Galaxie 500 - On Fire

Would also be great to see a more hip hop besides Madvillainy, as well as maybe a push for your love of post-rock into a more abstract direction? I'd start with Cannibal Ox's 'The Cold Vein' and Talk Talk's 'Spirit Of Eden' but no worries if they're your type of thing!!

Very average and "actual". Also, Nevermind in the top 10? I think you have to listen to more music.

Every single one of the top 32 albums in your top 40? Come on. I want to see personality! I want to see what makes you love music. You like Arcade Fire and Coldplay? Great! I want to see more of what you like, not what BEA says is good. Dig deeper and you will find albums that make you feel as strongly as Funeral makes you feel. It's a journey worth taking.

Well, I'm not the only one that thinks that VLV or DAAHF is better than AROBTTH.
