This is my first chart, and I chose a simple theme (My 100 Favorite Albums). I am a big fan of alt-rock (specifically albums in the garage rock revival, piano rock, and psychadelic rock subgenres), classic rock, jazz, and a fan of some pop and rap (if there are good narratives or good tongue-in-cheek lyricism). Hit me up if you have a good album recommendation within those genres that aren't already on here. Thanks!

Beautifully done album by Brian Wilson (aka, not Mike Love- what a jagoff). The concept of falling in love and your emotions swinging every which way like a flag in a warm, summer breeze. Pet Sounds is also one of the first complete albums with instrumentation other than "guitar music". It's even more of an impressive feat after watching Love & Mercy and being exposed to just how much time and delicate touch Brian put into this album. God only knows what I'd be without it.

More polished than "Is This It?", I am confident that I can put this album on shuffle and let it seamlessly entertain me song after song. The theme of giving into your impulses, temptations, and "reptile" brain is prevalent in many songs and it's all done in about 35 minutes. Just like "Is This It?", the duo of Albert Hammond Jr. and Nick Valensi on guitar is a lowkey secret weapon. I know guitarists get almost too much praise for crazy solos and incredible dexterity, but the bouncing of riffs, changes from lead to rhythm to lead part, and the ability to not overdo it are the pair's greatest accomplishment. Nikolai isn't as hidden beneath the tracks and Fabrizio doesn't sound as much like a drum machine as on the debut. All in all, people don't pay as much attention as they should to this album. It's outstanding!

Grew up with this album and I still feel that I haven't heard more songs by any other alt-rock album on the radio.

I definitely believe this is Grizzly Bear's best album. The strange blend of baroque style with psych-rock works very well and the production is impeccable hear! Some of the best I've ever heard! The middle couple songs don't hit as hard, but they're still good! Ed Droste and Daniel Rossen's writing hits home though sometimes feels a bit ambiguous. Chistopher Bear's drumming is so precise and fits perfectly and Dan Taylor's bass and production of the album is so calculating and meticulous at the right times! Favorite songs: "Two Weeks", "All We Ask", "Fine For Now", "Ready, Able".

Maybe it's my college-side speaking, but this album piques my interest in its diversity from one song to the next in terms of instrumentation. The band itself is pretty solid, but the string accompaniment and alternative uses of percussion are very mature without being snobby. Ezra Koenig also has a superb vocabulary as I had to read the lyrics to understand some of the songs.

What a perfect blend of the best sounds of their previous albums! With the atmospheric, lush sounds of Yellow House, the pop/psychedelia and catchy-ness of Veckatimest, and the guitar usage and landscape visuals of Shields, Painted Ruins is a meticulously produced wonder! This is definitely an album that needs to be listened straight through a few times before making a judgement purely for the purpose of appreciating all of the instrumentals in each song. Ed Droste's lyrics speak of the internal emotions post-breakup while Dan Rossen's speak of a more grander, bigger environment around him. The duality of the pair's lyrics and vocals gives you the best Grizzly Bear has to offer. The album also features Chris Taylor's lead vocal debut (a very impressive one at that) and probably some of the most intricate drumming/percussion work Christopher Bear has ever done! Give this album a listen and then 10 more! Best of 2017 so far!

No other album by any other band has made me feel or think more than twenty one pilots' "Vessel". Very well written with a vast array of genre and instrumentation, this Columbus duo is very talented and very skilled at making the audience think deeply about meaningful subject matter whilst still abling them to have fun and jam out. Their new album, "Blurryface", was released yesterday, earlier than its original release date, and I know I'm very much looking forward to listening to it on a loop.

Solid chart though maybe a little heavy on the recent decades. That and I'm not a big fan of some of your most represented artists: Arctic Monkeys, 21 Pilots, etc. it seems we really like some of the same genres though your preference may be for the rawer sound (Arctic Monkeys, Walkmen, Shins, Strokes) while I tend to go for the overproduced sound (Muse).
Love to see Ben Folds so well represented. He's a genius and extremely talented; I hope that future generations will look back at him the way we look at Elton John or Billy Joel's music. I'm guessing you've probably seen him live already if he's your favorite artist, I'd highly recommend seeing him live with an orchestra next time he does a tour like that! Incredible stuff

Aaargh! You posted Blurryface before me!!! Though it only came out a few days ago, I haven't stopped listening to it! Definitely my favorite album already...and I've been listening to a lot of music in the last few years. You have a lot of The Strokes on your list, and I definitely agree that Room On Fire is better than Is This It. ROF has more refinement to it and isn't as fuzzy, though ITI is awesome! But go twenty one pilots!
