This was quite the unique experience, and honestly I wouldn't expect anything less from Jenny Hval. This is, without a doubt, a very intriguing listen, it draws you in and makes you pay close attention. Hval will jar you with random things here and there, whether it's her talking about "soft dick rock" or if it's some kind of breakneck switch in musical style, this album does repeat the same thing twice, and that's what makes it so interesting. It has a very dreamy, improvisational feel to it, like anything could change at any moment, and it keeps you engaged. It's quite an impressive work of art and while it might not be for everyone, for those that it clicks for, they'll really enjoy it. [First added to this chart: 12/04/2015]

So if you're unfamiliar with Dødheimsgard, they're pretty unique. You could call them black metal or experimental metal and you'd likely be right, but whatever they are, they're extraordinarily interesting. On this album, the music is all over the place, but not in a bad way. It's weird, often times when an album seems to lose direction in a song, it makes it a bad song, but when Dødheimsgard does it, it makes it weird and different. They're not losing direction, they're just jerking you around in directions you're not expecting. Between Vicotnik's insane screaming and the plethora of instruments featured on this album (including a saxophone and brass section), this is an album that will leave an impression on you. There's not much like it. [First added to this chart: 10/20/2015]

@dbz - yea dude, the new Atkins is pretty sweet too.

@mecca - I think I need to relisten to the U.S. Girls album, I liked it a lot, might eventually crack the top-100.

Man, you put some serious work into this. All those informative notes. I think the bulk of these that I know would fall into my own honorable mentions chart if I made one. Was surprised Sleater Kinney and US Girls couldn't crack your top 100.
