Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 78.3/100, a mean average of 75.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 18.0.

Pretty standard for these 'designed by committee' lists with most of the usual candidates, making an effort to be diverse. But 'Born to Run', 'Talking Heads' and 'Thriller' in the top ten? 'Pet Sounds' is also not top 10.

Change abbey road for "Revolver" and this chart is really great, almost all decent picks.

Very good but I don't get "Born to Run" ever being in top 10. Its just a bit over the top like Meatloaf or something. It tries so hard for sincerity that it ends up completely lacking any. "Darkness on the edge of town" I could understand. "Thriller" is a brilliant album.

Pretty cool chart even though the ranking of some albums feels a bit off.

About the best you can get from a recognized chart. Some stuff is too high (Michael Jackson, Madonna), but that's to be expected.

Ranking anything by Madonna ahead of Astral Weeks warrants the death penalty.
