Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 3% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 89.8/100, a mean average of 89.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.4.

Cool chart. Very personal as in, not trying to pick what other people think might be cool. Like it a lot

Thank you for the kind words – again! There's something fundamentally lacking at the structural level of these aggregation sites in that all our lists are spiritually "favourite albums" lists while pretending to be "greatest music" lists. I always love a chart, like yours, that doesn't subject me to any pretence of unpersonalised objectivity, it expresses more.

Cool chart - nice to see 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' get listed ~ and of course 'The Yes Album' - the first vinyl record I ever scratched (accidently).

Definitely will return here to check out some of your picks. Your chart has a great balance of pop/rock that works well in a list. It’s gets more difficult the more you dip in other genres. I’m projecting but I think you did a masterful job considering the amount of music that’s out there.

Lots of inspired picks here, and oh my goodness your music is beautiful! I just want to put it on and gaze up at the stars. I can really hear the influences on your chart shining through.

I like this chart but don't know everything that shows - but will come back and look into those. I am surprised that it is predominantly 60's and 70's especially since you have rated so many albums and obviously well clued up. Can't believe your perseverance on listening to what looks like full back catalogue of Artists (Miley and One Direction etc) when you really don't like it? But also surprised of your ratings on so many big Artists that I enjoy like U2 & Muse - not doing it for you? Or hardly anything post 1970?

I only recently got into Flaming Lips and they are awesome - caught them live last year doing the Software Bulletin live including Wayne Coyne carried through the crowd on a large inflatable (sort of?) unicorn - lol - brilliant.

Any chart that includes Sunflower will get high marks from me. Thanks for introducing me to the Flaming Lips!
