Rush - The Studio Albums by AAL2014

I've always viewed this as Rush saying "We have arrived." Now, I've made my thoughts on 2112 very clear on this site, but there is no denying how on point that title track was and it was the first time the group created a legacy that they could later cement. One that has reached fruition big time in the past few years with album anniversary celebrations, an excellent Rock Doc, an induction in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and a fan base that is bigger than ever....

Rush is a special band for me. There is a reason why Rush is the second band that gets a custom chart on my page (after the Beatles)... They're my favorite. From the moment my dad and I watched the Live Rush In Rio DVD, I knew this was the band for me. I heard what was considered prog, but in a different, more straightforward way with better hooks, bigger riffs, and at the time the best damn drummer I'd ever seen.

I was 14 when I first watched that DVD. I saw Neil Peart twirl his drum sticks in the 2 second gaps in the songs and that was it. I had been playing the drums for a few months before that, but that was the moment that I wanted to be fucking great. Since then my life has not been the same. Since that point, I have accumulated all of the Rush studio albums and most canon live albums on CD and a number of them on vinyl (which can be seen in 'My Collection' on this site). I have seen them 3 times live, each time a different kind of greatness than the last. Overall they continue to be a source of inspiration for someone like me, not a misfit per-se, but never one to be the popular kid either.. as those kids are pricks.

This is for Geddy, Alex, and Neil for 40 years of a friendship with their fanbase never taken for granted. Take as big a vacation as you want, boys. It's been a one of a kind ride. Thank you Rush!
