But then I started hanging with my friend Brent who was...like those other indie snobs I had met before...really into Wilco. But by this time I was older...mellowed...not such a dick. So I gave it a whirl.
Surprise, surprise...it's awesome.
I have never dug Spoon or Yo La Tengo. But Wilco...they were the ones I began to really like from among that group of solid, rocking indie band. And it's probably for all the reasons everyone else likes them...the songs are fucking great.
So whenever I hear Heavy Metal Drummer...I don’t just bounce along...I remember how far I've progressed from my early music listening days. I remember that I have gotten over myself. [First added to this chart: 03/07/2011]

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

Even if the music's not really my thing, you gotta love the honesty that you put into your notes. Maybe some more picks from other countries would push this to a perfect score??
Great chart, interesting to see that blink album in the top 10.
nice personal picks but you should listen to some pink floyd my man.

Really interesting, fantastic description for Aeroplane. Very 90s, 00s and 10s heavy but it's personal and good

While I don't like every album on this chart, I thoroughly enjoyed your comments on the top 10, and had to chuckle to myself as I remember my own group of snob-ish friends that I used to hang out with. Love a lot of the picks on here, there were a few that don't get enough credit for what they are (particularly "I See a Darkness" and "Gorilla Manor"). Will definitely be checking out the ones I don't know, particularly They Might Be Giants.
