Top 78 Greatest Music Albums by willmaatealrii Unknown

Hello chart viewers, few disclaimers:

Yeah I realise this chart is incredibly repetitive, but it's also honest.
There are also a lot of fairly obvious picks, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Beatles etc, however there is also a decent amount of slightly less known and interesting picks to be had
Comments are in the works, I pinky promise.

Enjoy

John Frusciante, as the Red Hot Chili Pepper's guitarist, is of course and incredibly decorated and famous guitarist. However, very few people have listened to his solo stuff, and even those who have tend to drift to 'Curtains' or 'The Empyrean', so I believe this album is worthy of inclusion as a relative unknown. This is my all time favourite album. The layers of guitar, the ingenuity of instrumental, the pain of the lyrics and the feeling of the voice are all perfect in my opinion. If you are not willing to give this album 3 or 4 listens, don't bother. You will not like it the first time, however, if you have a few hours to spend, then go right ahead and you may find one of your favourite albums of all time. [First added to this chart: 05/15/2016]

Frusciante goes from sounding like a drug addled, out of tune genius to sounding like Cat Stevans. This album, almost performed solo by John, has only one bad point, its so short. The guitar is beautiful, the songs are meaningful and Frusciante's voice is perfect and possibly at it's peak. Particular favourites are Anne, The Past Recedes and Your Warning. If you liked Niandra Lades, then you may be a member of the 0.1% of people who like this album. Frusciante himself doesn't like this album. It's completely understandable why people don't enjoy it. The album is a complete mess, Frusciante screams his way through it, you can barely understand any of the lyrics, some of the songwriting is shambolic (looking at you 'I May Again Know John'. However, I absolutely love it, River Phoenix makes a very enjoyable appearance, some other bits of songwriting are pure genius and I defy anyone to find an album with more raw emotion. Key songs include: Breathe, Here Air and I'm Always. [First added to this chart: 03/10/2017]

This is an album for listening to in the dark, on good quality headphones. The album starts with an incredible cover of 'Maggot Brain' by Funkadelic, where Frusciante's guitar truly screams, it's rare that a near 10 minute guitar solo can hold ones attention so effectively, but this achieves that. Other highlights include the most accessible track 'Unreachable', the most popular track 'Central' that acts as the volta of the album, and the the closing track 'Here, Air' which sounds somewhat out of place, but successfully brings you back down to earth before you continue your day. Frusciante's falsetto vocals are incredibly soothing on this album particularly on tracks such as 'Heaven' and 'Dark Light'. There are also some brilliant string arrangements, such as on 'Central' and 'One More of Me'. [First added to this chart: 03/10/2017]

John Frusciante's final lo-fi album, and probably (technically) his best, in terms of listenablility to the average person. He singing is more palatable here (by no means mainstream though), the acoustic guitar is still present but there is the addition of an electronic drum beat, which keeps things fresh, I'm not sure if it's still around but this was originally released for free over the internet which is a bonus. Key tracks: Cut Myself Out, How High, Low Birds. [First added to this chart: 03/07/2017]

People who have got this far will have picked up on the fact that I am a massive Frusciante fan boy. This is Frusciante at his creative peak (it's part of a succession of three albums he recorded and released in one year), and it's him at his rockiest. It's certainly not his best or worst but it's worth a listen. Best tracks, Scratches and Firm Kick. [First added to this chart: 03/17/2017]
