Top 50 Greatest Music Albums by micah88800 Unknown

These are albums I have spent literally years of my life obsessing over, so this chart is obviously subjective. Still, they are albums I believe are of the highest possible quality. I'm going to attempt to write a small review/comment on every album and what it means to me. I've noticed some of these albums having aged a bit for me, so I'm going to start updating this more often to reflect my current tastes.

There are 9 comments for this chart from BestEverAlbums.com members and Top 50 Greatest Music Albums has an average rating of 91 out of 100 (from 18 votes). Please log in or register to leave a comment or assign a rating.

Severely underrated in the Zeppelin canon. This was the record that got me into Zep. Before this album I kind of thought of Zeppelin as super Bluesy and old-time rock and roll. Always liked them but was never very impressed. Until I heard Tangerine. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. It blew me away and soon I started to really get into this album. I got the Zeppelin bug and now they're one of my favorite artists. It all started with this awesome record. [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

I remember before this album came out, there was an insane amount of buzz from the music community. People were saying it was their best album, album of the decade, best album ever(?), and all sorts of insane stuff. Given that insanely high praise, there was no way the end product could have possibly lived up to the expectation, right? Wrong. This record belongs in all of those conversations. I'm not specifically a Daft Punk fan, in fact I cant stand a lot of their early stuff. But this album is objectively amazing. I think the big take away is their focus on rock instruments. Its still dance music, but one with more meaning than a droning beat and heavy synths. The songs are all terrific and loaded with nostalgic vibes. "Instant Crush" is great, "Get Lucky" was a hit, and the best Daft Punk song ever, "Touch". Terrific album and worth every bit of the praise [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

One of the first "indie" rock records of all time. This album oozes with experimentation and I love it. There are so many great tracks and moments to dig into here. Big hits like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Back in the USSR" keep it commercially viable, but it really shines on the lesser known tracks that litter its 2 disks like "Rockie Raccon", "I Will", and "Sexy Sadie". Maybe the best Beatles record overall, certainly belongs in that conversation [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

Kind of an outlier in here but I sure I do love this record. This album is likely to get a spin when I'm having a drinking session. For me they perfected their sound on this one, making it stand ever so taller then Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash. [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

Not my favorite by the National, but my first by the National. This was the record that opened my eyes to the band and I now consider them one of my favorite artists. Its chock full of great tracks and there are little to no weak moments. Highly recommended for a National fan [First added to this chart: 04/05/2018]

A good part of my formative years, I had this album spinning pretty consistently. An absolute Cornerstone (see what I did there) of my taste in music and culture. Fast riffs, cool lyrics, and loads of fun. Best album from the Arctic Monkeys [First added to this chart: 04/05/2018]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.7/100, a mean average of 92.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.2/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.9.

We have a lot in common! The National and Vampire Weekend are certainly two of my favorite artists of this generation!
