Top 50 Greatest Music Albums by micah88800 Unknown

These are albums I have spent literally years of my life obsessing over, so this chart is obviously subjective. Still, they are albums I believe are of the highest possible quality. I'm going to attempt to write a small review/comment on every album and what it means to me. I've noticed some of these albums having aged a bit for me, so I'm going to start updating this more often to reflect my current tastes.

Absolutely epic record. This album is full of political commentary and catchy songs. Listened to this almost every day my freshman year of college, so I have a lot of nostalgia attached to it. There is 19 songs and they are all good! Every one of them! That is a feat not usually seen in music and makes this alum truly exceptional [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

Absolute classic in every sense of the word. 8 tracks have never held up better as a put together album. The boss perfectly flushes out the sound of being young and careless. The songs are so undeniably good its outrageous. Between "Thunder Road"(contender for best song ever imo), "Backstreets", Title track, and the epic closer "Jungleland"(also one of my contenders for best song ever), you have a perfect record. Led Zeppelin IV was exceptional, but I like this release more. Its more fun than their previous records and finds them in an experimental mode. From Dyer Maker to The Ocean to Rain Song, you dont find 2 songs that sound anything like each other. This album is a blast and an absolute essential for any rock and roll fan [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

A dramatic shift for the Boss. The anti-Born to Run in a way. Instead of starry eyed romanticism, Bruce deals with the challenges of adult life and the sacrifices that must be made as one gets older. This is one that has grown on me as I've gotten older due to it being a more mature album. This album is very important in rock music. Its a great contrast to the standard rock mythology of drugs, sex, and partying. I think that's why people are so gravitated to Bruce's music, he relates to us in ways other rock starts simply dont(or perhaps cant). While Born to Run may be the better record, this is the quintessential Bruce album lyrically and sonically. [First added to this chart: 03/25/2018]

Severely underrated in the Zeppelin canon. This was the record that got me into Zep. Before this album I kind of thought of Zeppelin as super Bluesy and old-time rock and roll. Always liked them but was never very impressed. Until I heard Tangerine. One of the most beautiful songs ever recorded. It blew me away and soon I started to really get into this album. I got the Zeppelin bug and now they're one of my favorite artists. It all started with this awesome record. [First added to this chart: 12/13/2017]

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.7/100, a mean average of 92.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.2/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.9.

I love some of these albums, overall it does seem a bit bland to me though. Very good #1.
