I discovered Tame Impala through Elephant - a song that has the most basic rhythm possible just to completely destroy it throughout. This is the band that should prove all "born in le wrong generation"-douchebags wrong (I couldn't care less when a certain type of music is released). Kevin Parker brings psychedelic music into the 2010s. And Lonerism is his magnum opus. While Innerspeaker is more psychedelic rock and Currents more psychedelic pop, Lonerism is the perfect symbiosis of both. What I like most about these songs is, that every sound is stretched to it's extend, so that you can savour it even longer. Parker's lyrical content is unbelievably introverted and insecure - with song titles like Why Won't They Talk To Me - which is so odd, because the music is extroverted and loud and layered and thick. Every song is a bright journey with trippy twists and turns.

The main dish is a set of catchy alternative pop tunes that everyone can enjoy, flavoured with the basic essence of folktronica. Pouring in some serious 21-century-poetry and voila, there you have one excellent example of a perfect hipster record. Whenever I put this record on, I can be sure: Spring is here, a long, stressful winter is over and the year will start to be okay. So lovely and light.

There is a reason this album is so highly rated on this website and considered one of the greatest records of the decade. On his major label debut, Kendrick delivers a lyrical journey into his past and gives a broad insight into the social circumstances he grew up in. GKMC is not less conceptual than TPAB and DAMN. and paved the way for Kendrick's career and the statement he gives on these later records.

It took years for me to discover Beach House - I knew that their music would appeal to me but I never listened into it until I stumbled to this CD on a flea market in Freiburg. Thank god for me and thank god Beach House got so famous! They effecively managed to remove the dust from dream pop. Their version of this lovely, guitar heavy sound is more upbeat, more optimistic than the first wave of bands in the 90s - the white noise is not whiter, but still brighter. This is due to the more modern, synthetic beat, which brings more liveliness into the music. It manages to create nostalgia for both a time that I wasn't even alive yet and at the same time for the time that is yet to come.
